This naturally processed Caturra comes from Beneficio Brumas Del Zurquí—a family-run micromill nestled in Costa Rica’s Central Valley, in the Heredia sub-region. Managed by fourth-generation producer Juan Ramón Alvarado Rodríguez and his family, the mill receives cherries from neighbouring farms and works with a range of varieties, including Villa Sarchi, SL-28, Gesha, and Caturra.
Since 2003, Juan has steadily expanded the mill’s capabilities—introducing innovative processing methods and establishing an on-site lab and roastery to maintain quality at every stage. Despite recent labour shortages, his dedication remains clear: to create coffee that supports his community, brings joy to those who roast it, and inspires those who drink it.
This Caturra is a beautiful expression of that ethos. A classic natural, it presents a velvety texture with notes of stewed plum, panela, raisin, and dark chocolate—rich, creamy, and just a little boozy.
Flavour profile: Panela, stewed plum, raisins
